Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei invests in FrankfurtRhineMain

Huawei Technologies, one of the leading providers of next-generation network solutions for telecommunications companies has opted to set up its new innovation and demonstration centre in Darmstadt in the FrankfurtRhineMain region. The Chinese telecommunications corporation has invested several million Euros in the centre. Since it opened in August 2008, the company’s customers and partners have been able to learn more about the latest innovative solutions designed by Huawei at the centre, and to work with the network specialist on further development and testing.

“We opted for this location because it enables us to work closely with our major customers. Darmstadt and the entire FrankfurtRhineMain region are two of the leading IT and telecommunications centres in Germany. Here we can maintain direct contact with our customers and recruit the qualified staff that we need as a modern and highly innovative company", is how Walter Haas, Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of Huawei Deutschland, justifies the decision.

As a technology company, keeping pace with technical developments is enormously important for Huawei. This necessitates very close cooperation among all of the company’s offices. According to Haas: “We can quickly fly our experts in from around the world to Frankfurt airport”. Added to which, he believes the region to be incredibly international and therefore to offer the ideal prerequisites for ensuring that even the employees assigned by the company from China felt at home.
