A hint of Monte Carlo in FrankfurtRhineMain

Bad Homburg Casino

Bad Homburg is not just well known as a spa town, it is also home to one of Europe's most famous casinos. Since 1843 the casino in the Kurpark has been announcing: "Rien ne vas plus!". As such, Bad Homburg's casino is 14 years older than the world-famous casino in Monte Carlo. The "Mother of Monte Carlo" helped the small town to evolve into a spa center with international flair. Bad Homburg emerged as one of the leading fun spas in Europe. Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevski was inspired by Bad Homburg's casino to write his famous novel "The Gambler", where main character Alexei Ivanovitch succumbs to the lure of roulette, much the same way the author did. Nowadays the casino ranks among Germany's top ten.  Entertainment is provided both by classic games, such as roulette, black jack and poker, and by one-arm bandits. The open-air casino on the roof of the building is unique in Germany.

Wiesbaden Casino

Gambling has also been going on in Wiesbaden since the end of the 18th century. World-famous artists, such as Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevski, composer Richard Wagner and rock'n'roller Elvis Presley loved the unique atmosphere of Wiesbaden's casino. The gambling tables have been set up in the former Wine Hall of the Kurhaus since the beginning of the 20th century. Wiesbaden casino is the only place you will find a special attraction: The Kurhaus Colonnades are the longest hall of pillars in Europe measuring 129 m.

Frankfurt Airport Casino

There is also a casino at Frankfurt am Main airport in Terminal 1 (Section B, Level 3, close to gates 22-28) where you can amuse yourself and while away the time playing such classic games as roulette, black jack and poker. The casino is, however, only open to travelers in transit.
