Winegrowing is characteristic in the FrankfurtRheinMain region. In spite of only having some 3,000 ha of vines, Rheingau is one of the foremost winegrowing regions in Germany. The wine in our region, which is home to Riesling wines, is so important that UNESCO has declared parts of Rheingau as a world cultural heritage site. This is the first time that a large area in Germany has been acknowledged as a special mix of cultural and natural landscapes.
Wine is an important part of the culture in our region. The numerous wine festivals that take place between June and October are a social ritual bringing people together. Each wine community celebrates its own festival. You have to visit them to enjoy and appreciate the unique atmosphere.


The RheinMain regional park is the green belt traversing the entire region. It links intact natural landscapes with cultural history and artistic projects. In doing so, it acts in the interests of both nature, landscape and monument protection, and agriculture and forestry. The 450 km network extends from the nature parks to Hesse Ried, from Wiesbaden to Hanau, and from Mainz, Bingen, Wiesbaden to Aschaffenburg and Miltenberg.
