FrankfurtRheinMain region Welcomes Tencent Cloud -

The IT Sector in the FrankfurtRheinMain region is experiencing significant growth. Tencent Cloud Europe GmbH, a subsidiary of Tencent Holding Ltd. has expanded its global footprint by opening a new office in Frankfurt.

Tencent is not only one of China's largest Internet companies, but also one of the most valuable companies in the world. With its expansion into the Rhein Main area, Tencent opened an office to support European companies to speed up their business in China and globally by providing cloud solutions to industrial customers and partners. In close collaboration with the Frankfurt Economic Development GmbH, FrankfurtRheinMain GmbH International Marketing of the Region supported Tencent with its investment in the region.

Tencent was founded in 1998 in the Chinese City of Shenzhen and is now one of the world’s biggest internet companies by market capitalization. Internationally, Tencent is known for being the world largest online games platform, however, beyond online games Tencent is China’s largest social media and entertainment company. As a part of Tencent’s global expansion strategy the company will focus on offering industry leading cloud solutions for enterprise customers via its cloud business unit. Tencent Cloud Europe is spearheading the European expansion by offering its partners and customers access to the company’s enterprise cloud solutions, infrastructure, and its vast ecosystem that enables them to reach more than 1.1 billion Chinese users throughout Tencent’s social networks and entertainment platforms. Its cloud business unit leverages the company’s experience in research and development and is among the world leading developers for new applications such as internet security, artificial intelligence, big data, and digital payment. As a global service provider Tencent Cloud’s operates data center centers all over the world with two of its European IDCs located in Frankfurt, where they leverage the regions extremely well built and scalable infrastructure.

The FrankfurtRheinMain region offers excellent telecommunications and Internet infrastructure. The largest data node in the world (DE-CIX) is located in Frankfurt am Main. In September 2019, DE-CIX was the first to achieve a data-rate of 7 terabits per second, setting world record. This data-rate corresponds to 1.6 million videos or a 177-kilometer stack of written paper pages per second.
